Good afternoon St. Regis Falls Central School District Families,
Today marks the final day of our Summer Enrichment program 2024. Students studied the Olympic games around the world and throughout history, and concluded with their own Mini-Olympics. It was alot of fun for everyone. We were very thankful for the funding from the American Rescue Plan/COVID relief plans so that we could provide these opportunities for our students. As those funds are sunsetting this month, we will look for additional ways to support summer and enrichment programming in the future.
While the teachers and staff will now head home for some well-deserved rest before our opening with students on September 5, the 12-month staff are very focused on completing the preparations for all of the aspects of opening school again. Up until now,
We have upgraded safety and security systems to ensure that we can be very responsive with door security and access, as well as clear communications with both internal staff and emergency personnel if needed. This was supported through the remaining funds from the NY Safe Act allocations to SRF CSD.
The maintenance team has been working diligently on deep cleaning all rooms and facilities as well as maintaining the landscaping and completing the mortar sealing on the outside of the building. It really is looking beautiful!
I'm sure that many of you are wondering about our progress on staffing and instructional preparations. Currently,
We are already fully staffed at the K-8 level including special education and special areas staff, and mostly staffed at the secondary level as we continue our search for a certified Special Education teacher and a certified Math teacher.
In addition, many teachers are engaged in a variety of professional development and training this summer in the areas of "The Science of Reading", Math curricula, APL Instructional Skills, technology integration, and content-specific lesson development.
Our master schedule is nearly complete and offers substantial common literacy blocks for all grades k-4 students, and Math, Science, and Social Studies instruction with specialized teachers.
A mid-day enrichment class period, as well as scheduled intervention period are included every day at all grade levels.
Teachers are setting up their classrooms, the student and parent handbooks are being finalized, athletic teams are gearing up, and the communication channels are being updated.
We will be ready for our precious young people to be well-served when they return!
Further to our preparations for 2024-25, the SRF CSD has partnered with the financial advising services of RGTimbs, Inc. to assist us in building long-term financial plans that will both stabilize and sustain our District programming for many years to come. Mr. Rick Timbs will be providing a Fiscal Overview of the financial condition of the District at the Board of Education meeting on August 20, 2024. We encourage you to join us for this important information.
While we continue to prepare for your students, we want to thank you and appreciate all the ways that you support our staff and the district. Without your commitment, passion, Facebook "likes," feedback, and partnership, we could not accomplish our mission of providing a high-quality education for all of our students. As always, I enjoy hearing from families, community, and students, so please reach out to me at school with any questions, comments, or concerns.
Best Regards and Enjoy Your August,
Nicole
