Dear St. Regis Falls Families and Community Members,
The safety and well-being of our students and staff will always be among our highest priorities. In light of recent events involving school violence across the country, we recognize that families may have questions about the steps we take to keep our school safe.
We want to reassure our community that school safety is not something we consider only in response to a tragedy. It is an ongoing responsibility that requires preparation, communication, and collaboration.
At St. Regis Falls Central School, we have a comprehensive District-Wide School Safety Plan that outlines our approach to preventing, preparing for, and responding to emergencies. Our safety measures include:
Building security: Controlled visitor access, security cameras, electronic access systems, and the presence of Special Patrol Officers.
Emergency preparedness: Regular safety drills and training for students and staff, including procedures for lockdowns, evacuations, sheltering, and other emergencies.
Threat prevention and assessment: A Threat Assessment Team and procedures for identifying, reporting, and responding to potential safety concerns before they escalate.
Community partnerships: Ongoing coordination with local law enforcement, fire departments, emergency medical services, and other public safety agencies.
Family communication: Established systems to provide families with timely information and instructions when an emergency affects our school.
Safety, however, goes beyond locked doors and emergency procedures. It also means creating a school environment where every student feels connected, supported, and comfortable turning to a trusted adult when something does not seem right.
We encourage families to have conversations with their children about the importance of reporting concerning behavior, threats, or anything that makes them feel unsafe. If you or your child become aware of a potential safety concern, please contact the school. Even something that may seem minor is worth sharing.
We understand that no school can eliminate every possible risk. What we can do is remain vigilant, review and strengthen our practices, work closely with our community partners, and make thoughtful decisions with the safety of our students and staff at the forefront.
As a small school community, one of our greatest strengths is that we know and care about one another. Keeping our school safe is a shared responsibility, and we appreciate the trust you place in us each day.

Effective Friday, October 16, our district will transition from four bus routes to three.
As we adjust to the new routes, morning pick-up and afternoon drop-off times may vary slightly during the first few days. We anticipate that schedules will become more consistent as everyone settles into the new routine.

The Girls' Modified Soccer Game today at Brushton-Moira CSD has been postponed . The Varsity Boys' Game in Colton is still on schedule.

It is with a heavy heart that we reach out to inform you of an active investigation in the area impacting our school community. Because the investigation is ongoing, the school does not have confirmed information to share regarding the circumstances or the individuals involved. However, investigators have determined there is no threat to our school or community.
As the investigation continues, we want you to know that your school district is here for you and your family during this unexpected circumstance. Additional counselors are in place to offer support to students, staff, and families. Counselors will be available throughout the school day all week. If you feel you or your child would like to speak with them, please contact the main office.
To give community members time to process this news, the district has also decided to cancel two events scheduled for this evening. The Meet the Teacher event originally scheduled for 4:30 p.m. and the Senior-Parent Meeting at 6 p.m. will be rescheduled for a later date and time. All soccer practices are cancelled as well.
In an effort to provide guidance and support to our school faculty and staff, we will be operating on a two-hour delay tomorrow morning, Thursday, Sept. 17. Morning bus pick up times will occur approximately two hours later than usual. The earliest students should arrive at school via parent drop off is 9 a.m. There will be no morning BOCES.
Classes will begin at 9:47 a.m. (two hours later than normal). In order to provide an extra layer of support and reassurance, we will also have an additional School Patrol Officer available for the remainder of this week.
Please let us know if there is anything we can do to support you and your family during this difficult time.
